Eco Safari Movie Expanded Information:
Subject: The experience of a lifetime…
Every few years, Lyn and Tara take a small group of people on the Heart of Africa Eco-Safari, a once
in a lifetime opportunity to experience the culture, people, and natural wonders of East Africa –
up-close and personal.
The adventure begins at the Kilimanjaro International Airport in Moshi, Tanzania, and proceeds
overland to Lake Manyara National Park with its pink flamingos and famous tree-climbing lions.
From there, we proceed to the Rhino Lodge on Ngorongoro’s crater rim for the night. The
the following day we embark on a day-long hike to the top of the Mt. Oldeani volcano and return to
Rhino Lodge in the evening.
The following day, we will descend into the Ngorongoro crater for a game drive in one of
Africa’s densest populations of big game include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, water
buffalo, elephants, rhinos, and many other exotic species. In the afternoon, we proceed to
Serengeti National Park where we will stay at a top-rated, tented camp in the heart of the park.
An optional early morning hot air balloon ride over the park the next day will be followed by a
game drive to experience again the wonders of Tanzania’s wildlife roaming these vast, legendary
plains.
After a picnic lunch in the park, we will continue on to the home of Tanzania’s late Founding
Father, Julius Nyerere, spending the night in the former diplomatic quest house and the following
morning visit GRA’s new Butiama tree nursery. Those who are interested can visit the Julius
Nyerere Museum on our way to Musoma where the GRA-Tz offices are located.
Guests will spend one day visiting the homes of orphans in one of GRA’s two programs.
On the weekend, we will get together with the kids in our Tumaini Kwa Watoto (Hope for the Children)
program in Musoma for singing, dancing, writing letters and making drawings for sponsors,
and the distribution of weekly supplies.
The last day of the safari will include a trip to a small, tropical “island paradise” in Lake Victoria
for a relaxing overnight stay before departing for home - or onward destinations in Africa.
The next ten-day eco-safari will begin at the end of August 2025. If you think you might be interested
in joining or would like more information, please email Lyn at lrh127@gmail.com.
